1. The most well-designed learning experience I have had was actually a lesson on how to teach engaing lessons. This lesson included an exciting, interesting lesson opening, various student groupings, lots of movement, and more student participation than teacher lecturing. Assessments like the 3-2-1 strategy were quick, easy, and summed up the lesson effectively. The lesson took place in a typical classroom setting, where the teacher acted as a guide, not merely a lecturer.
2. I think that the following are important components of an engaging lesson: Clear learning objectives, activities that require student participation, a clear summary of the lesson, and assessments that accurately measure student performance.
3. I think that the characteristics of best design are most likely to be seen in schools or classrooms where the teacher is required to submit lesson plans and student assessments. When teachers are required to put in the effort to plan effective lessons, and provide student progress reports, they will be less likely to teach boring or unorganized lessons.
4. Edited list: Clear learning objectives, common core standards, learning activities directly related to the objectives, assessments, adaptation or modification for struggling students, engaging resources and materials.
